Where My Paws Are
Being where my paws are. That’s something I’ve been trying to do more of. My humans say they want to be where their feet are. I think it means being in the present moment—in the here and now. I love that idea. But honestly? Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes my paws land in places that don’t feel so great. Like the other day, I was frolicking happily on the beach when—OUCH—I stepped on a bunch of prickly things. Some people call them goathead burs . It hurt so badly, I couldn’t e

Take Paws Under the Stars.
It’s a beautiful thing when the busyness of the day settles and the stars come out. Before bed, my humans and I head outside just to enjoy the night sky—the plants glowing in the moonlight, the stars that flicker and fly, the Milky Way floating above us, and the clouds slowly drifting away. There’s something peaceful about being out in the night, slowing down and noticing all the beauty around me. I only wish someone could teach my sister, Kona, how to do that. She knows how

Never Bored on the Boardwalk
After a long day of hiking and a break at the beach, some good food really hit the spot at Brew STX! For those of you who aren’t familiar, Brew STX is a cool restaurant right on the boardwalk in downtown Christiansted. Humans love the boardwalk because there are lots of shops and other restaurants nearby. Plus, it's incredibly beautiful! I love a lot of things about the boardwalk, but one of my favorites is the chicken wings! My human brother, Elijah, also loves the chicken w

The Winding Trails of Windsor Farm
Last Saturday, my humans and I ventured to the middle(ish) of the island to go hiking. The trail winds through beautiful mountains and is even designed for bikes. Unfortunately, my humans had to ship their bikes down from Wisconsin and I think the bikes were still somewhere in Puerto Rico. Not a problem. I’m sure we’ll bike the trail someday, but for now, we just walked it (and pranced a little...I like to prance). Along the trail, we found many interesting animals and plants

Cane Bay Day
Follow me to the north shore, where the beats are bumping, the waves are splashing, and the community vibe is strong. On holidays in St. Croix (like Labor Day), school’s out, many folks get the day off, and people seem to drift toward the water. Whether you’re seeking sand between the toes, beach games, or libations, Cane Bay is a lovely spot to relax and have fun. Even though I go to beaches a lot with my family, sometimes, the water feels a little scary. Maybe it’s the bi

Undercover Books and Under Car Cats
Did you know that books are sold in stores and cats live under cars? Let me explain. My humans and I had an interesting outing to a bookstore in Gallows Bay. (For those who don’t know, nowadays, Gallows Bay is an area in Christiansted with a mix of wonderful establishments. However, it has an important and, at times, painful history worth learning more about. Follow this link - it will explain). While at the bookstore in Gallows Bay, I had to stay outside as my human sibling

Hello St. Croix! And, hurricane Erin.
We were just settling in when the hurricane warnings began. What started as a tropical storm quickly grew into a Cat 5. For those of you who pee in toilets, staying inside isn’t such a big deal. But for us dogs—who use outdoor facilities —it meant braving the storm. The good news? The eye stayed 150 miles north, so we only caught the outer bands. There were enough breaks in the heavy rain for me to walk a full 5K with my humans. A 5K in a Cat 5… that was a first for all of us

The Plan Unfolds...
We drove through the night and finally rolled into Atlanta. First thing I did? Found some street pizza. Not the kind being sold on the street—the kind that had been sitting there for days. I snatched it up so fast Mom didn’t stand a chance of getting it from me. And honestly? Best pizza I’ve ever had. I liked it so much I convinced my family to eat at the actual restaurant for dinner. Of course, their pizza came fresh from the kitchen. If you ever pass through Atlanta, I hi

The Grand Plan!
A road trip to Ft. Lauderdale so we could finally catch a flight with room for us. The idea was simple: rent a U-Haul for the luggage, load the Newfies into the back of the car, and let the cats snuggle in with Elijah and Penelope. Naturally, I’d be riding shotgun. I even offered to drive once—but let’s be honest, I can’t reach the pedals. Once in Ft. Lauderdale, the cats, Elijah, Penelope, and human mom would board a flight to the island. The next day, human dad and I would

We got up at 3:30 AM for nothing.
The night before leaving, we were buzzing with excitement, practically tasting the ocean air and counting down the hours until our flight. The alarm was set for 3:30 AM, and by 3:45 we were out the door. With all the humans and small creatures loaded into the car, I navigated the dark roads toward the airport in Wisconsin. We hauled our bags to the check-in counter, hearts racing with anticipation. Forty-five minutes later, our excitement collapsed into confusion and disappoi

And so it begins (almost)
It's hard to be a little dog and pack for a big journey. Fortunately, I have my wonderful family to help. Even though we can take a lot of bags on the plane, not everything can fit in suitcases. Some of our things have to be sent down in big, wooden crates. That's where I come in. I use my bodyweight (a whole 20 pounds) to push down the the items and make room for more. My sister, Shawanda, is an expert sock sorter. She helps us find the warm weather socks, so we can leave th
