Did you know that books are sold in stores and cats live under cars? Let me explain.

My humans and I had an interesting outing to a bookstore in Gallows Bay. (For those who don’t know, nowadays, Gallows Bay is an area in Christiansted with a mix of wonderful establishments. However, it has an important and, at times, painful history worth learning more about. Follow this link - it will explain).

While at the bookstore in Gallows Bay, I had to stay outside as my human siblings looked for new, exciting reads. I stuck with my human mom because I wasn't sure if I was allowed in the store.

While outside, I had the best view. At my height, I see things humans miss—pennies, insects, even street pizza. But this time, my view gave me something even better: little cats! With a seamless undercar view, I spotted these tiny critters tucked in a purrrrfect hiding spot. And when I say tiny, I mean TINY. Even smaller than my sister Shawanada, and she’s already the littlest one in my domain. Best guess, these kittens were only a few months old.

As I watched the kittens, I noticed some chaos. You see, a kind person set out some food for the little fur balls, but the chickens lingering there got to most of it first. That’s life as a community critter—you eat what you can and the fight for food is real. In fairness to the chickens, I may have eaten one or two of them in my day. Not to brag, but my hunting skills are top-notch.

As interesting as this all was, I was puzzled why my humans kept fawning over the kittens and ignoring me. I gave them a little whimper—just to remind them who the most adorable pet on island really is. (Shhh… don’t tell my siblings I said that.)
