The Winding Trails of Windsor Farm

Last Saturday, my humans and I ventured to the middle(ish) of the island to go hiking. The trail winds through beautiful mountains and is even designed for bikes. Unfortunately, my humans had to ship their bikes down from Wisconsin and I think the bikes were still somewhere in Puerto Rico. Not a problem. I’m sure we’ll bike the trail someday, but for now, we just walked it (and pranced a little...I like to prance).

Along the trail, we found many interesting animals and plants! First, we came across a gigantic hermit crab.  Luckily, we were smart enough to keep our distance and not get pinched. Next, we saw a spider with an enormous web!! My humans almost walked right into it. Fortunately, the spider wasn’t moving anywhere quickly, so we got to watch it for a bit. Last, but not least, we saw an abundance of millipedes – not little ones – HUGE ones! In my perspective, they helped us hike faster.

The trail was more than just creatures. It also had a lot of beautiful plants and trees. There was awesome signage scattered along the trail that told us all about the flora. It even shared about the history of the land we were hiking. I’m going to be honest, I’m very sophisticated, but I haven't learned to read yet. Luckily, my humans read the signs to me.

When we got done hiking, most of us headed to Cane Bay (I told you all about that awesome beach in a previous post...check the past posts if you don't remember). While my human siblings, dad, and I enjoyed the waves, my mom stayed back at the trail to hike a bit longer (I don’t know how she walks so far with only two legs).

All in all, it was quite an adventure, I’m glad I survived! Especially given the millipedes. Despite all that adventure, believe it or not, that wasn’t even the end of our day. I'll tell you about the rest of the night when I get a chance. For now, I need to rest my paws.
