And so it begins (almost)

It's hard to be a little dog and pack for a big journey. Fortunately, I have my wonderful family to help. Even though we can take a lot of bags on the plane, not everything can fit in suitcases. Some of our things have to be sent down in big, wooden crates. That's where I come in. I use my bodyweight (a whole 20 pounds) to push down the the items and make room for more. My sister, Shawanda, is an expert sock sorter. She helps us find the warm weather socks, so we can leave the wool ones behind. My other feline siblings, Lynx and Lunalu, use their nimble paws to make sure everything fits just right in our checked bags. Even my big dog siblings help by testing out their airplane kennels to make sure they are Newfie sized. As you can imagine, Moca and Kona can't fit under airplane seats like the cats and me. It turns out, Newfies are even too big to fit through the luggage door on a passanger jet. This means they have to fly on an entirely different plane than us - a cargo plane! As excited as we all are to embark on this journey, it's also really hard to say, "Goodbye." There are so many good smells in the home and backyard we are used to, but more importantly, so many people we will miss. If I've learned anything over my long two years of life, it's that love is a powerful thing. It can connect people across oceans. Cellphones help with that too... I just need to figure out how to use one.
